Writing for GiveMeSport, reporter and 'transfer insider' Dean Jones has made a very interesting Newcastle United transfer claim involving Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane.

The Lowdown: Busy summer ahead?

The Magpies, and by extension main club owners the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF), are already putting plans into place ahead of a busy summer.

Eddie Howe's side are quickly and impressively steering clear from relegation as they put a large gap between Newcastle and the Premier League bottom three.

Following the turbulent Mike Ashley era, things are looking rather rosy on Tyneside at this present moment, and it appears club chiefs have some major ambition to take the club even further forward.

The Latest: Newcastle chiefs eye Kane deal...

As per GMS, chiefs inside Newcastle want PIF and the club to make an attempt to sign Spurs star Kane this summer as they also eye Man City defender John Stones and Man United keeper Dean Henderson.

It is claimed that 'some figures' within St. James' Park believe they have 'nothing to lose' by at least trying to sign England's striker.

The Verdict: Big update...

Once valued at £200 million by chairman Daniel Levy, even PIF's mega money riches are no guarantee that the club can prise away Kane this summer.

Man City failed with four approaches last year and made mega-millions bids of their own but Tottenham refused to budge on their top asset.

However, if Newcastle were actually to seal the deal, it would undoubtedly be a massive statement.

Jones himself believes Kane could be an 'unbelievable' signing for the club while English defender Liam Ridehalgh branded Kane a 'monster of a player'.

Winning the Premier League Golden Boot in 2021, clinching a place in PFA Team of The Year also, the 28-year-old's pursuit of silverware could prompt him to force a move to City if anywhere.
