Sadly, the Argentine has lost his place to the new pairing of John Stones and Aymeric Laporte in the Premier League and hasn’t been getting a chance in Europe either.
Although the 30-year-old is more than happy at the Etihad, he wants reassurances that he will get some action before long.
Both Real Madrid and Barcelona are admirers of the defender, so he could consider his options in the summer.
THE VERDICT:
Nicolas Otamendi hasn’t been able to work his way into Guardiola’s plans this season, which has seen him spend most of his time out on the sidelines.
However, with Stones and Laporte already forming a settled partnership at the back, you struggle to see where the South American will fit in, with other players also fighting for a place.
