The Toffees will be focused on ensuring consistency from here on in as one slip-up could cost them dearly in the race for a European place this season. Although, it appears as if one of the club’s first team players is attracting interest, as according to The Times, Nigeria are attempting to persuade Ademola Lookman to end his England allegiance.
England must ward off another approach for Everton’s Ademola Lookman after Nigeria signalled their intent to try to persuade the youngster to switch allegiance.
Lookman has been a target for the African nation, for whom he is eligible through his parents, for a number of years and coach Gernot Rohr is hoping to recruit the 21 year old before next summer’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The forward scored for England Under-21s in their 7-0 thrashing of Andorra earlier this month and also helped the Under-20s win the World Cup in South Korea in 2017.
But, as Lookman has not represented England at senior level, he can switch to Nigeria.
THE VERDICT:
Ademola Lookman enjoyed a very successful loan spell at German side RB Leipzig last season, but he has been starved of chances in the first team at Goodison Park in the current campaign.
Indeed, the forward should have a long, hard think about whether he wants to change allegiance in the near future, with Gareth Southgate currently offering opportunities to youngsters.
