The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern are more than used to being let down in a transfer window, however, this time around it could be different. The club has been linked with Andros Townsend by Sky Sports News and he could be just one of a new front three brought in.

The Magpies propping our bar up seem surprisingly keen to get Townsend back at the club. The last time the fans were cheering on the winger he didn’t stick around for long. The winger left Tottenham for St James Park in January 2016, spending less than six months in the Northeast before moving to Crystal Palace that summer after the Geordies were relegated at the end of the season.
Now though, Newcastle are back in the big time and Townsend could be set to try and get his career at St James Park back up and running. The fans would appreciate having his dynamic wing-play back at the club and with his ability to find the net with both feet it would be no surprise if he was to go back and become a favourite again. Townsend could end up at the club alongside Danny Ings and Kenedy, forming a new-look front-three for Rafa Benitez, however, we’re yet to see if there’s weight behind the rumours.

As you can see, the Magpies in the Tavern are open to resigning Townsend and he could be big hit on Tyneside if he puts his mind to it.
