Nottingham Forest expected to sign Brazilian trio after Club World Cup

After narrowly escaping relegation in 2023/24 by the skin of their teeth, Nottingham Forest did the unthinkable this past season by securing European football for the first time in three decades.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side finished seventh in the Premier League to book their place in next season’s UEFA Europa Conference League, a competition recently won by Chelsea.
Had it not been for a late dip in form, Forest might have finished even higher, rising as high as second at points during an impressive campaign.
Of course, while the team is delighted to be in the mix, European football brings more pressure—and notably, a busier calendar—meaning Forest will want to bolster their squad with both quality and depth in the coming months to prepare.
Several players are reportedly on their radar, including Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, who finished the season with 19 Premier League goals, and a potential return to the City Ground for Aston Villa defender Matty Cash.
Most recently, however, a trio of Brazilian stars have been linked with a move to Forest—a rumor that will no doubt excite the club’s fans.

According to a new report from the Daily Mail, Forest have held productive talks over signing three players from Botafogo, the reigning Brazilian Serie A champions who also won the Copa Libertadores in 2024.
The players in question are centre-back Jair Cunha, striker Igor Jesus, and left-back Cuiabano.
The report claims all three are expected to join Forest after the Club World Cup, which finishes in mid-July and in which Botafogo is taking part.
The arrival of Edu as global director of football from Arsenal last year—working across Evangelos Marinakis’ clubs—is expected to have been a significant factor in clinching these signatures, with the Brazilian having strong ties to the market in his home country.
If they do join Forest, they will become part of an ever-growing cohort of Brazilians at the club, including defenders Morato and Murillo, midfielder Danilo, and backup goalkeeper Carlos Miguel.
Forest fans will be hoping their compatriots not only feel welcome at their new home but also hit the ground running in what will no doubt be a challenging campaign.
