Nottingham Forest: Fans blast Sammy Ameobi

Many Nottingham Forest were not impressed with Sammy Ameobi during their side’s 0-0 draw at home to Birmingham City.

Neither side were able to break each other’s defensive units down and were forced to share the spoils at the City Ground, with the 28-year-old frontman targeted by segments of the fanbase.

Per Sofascore, Ameobi lost possession 18 times, lost 75% of his duels and accumulated a pass success rate of just 53%, only Brice Samba amassed a lower percentage.

From 16 starts this season, the former Newcastle United man has actually averaged a match rating of 6.84 – the second-highest in Chris Hughton’s side this season (Whoscored).

After his poor display on Saturday though, supporters were critical of Ameobi’s exploits, with some suggesting that he put nowhere near enough effort in and was playing the game at a casual pace.

Fans fume at Ameobi

“Appreciate his natural posture is quite languid but Ameobi is just dossing about atm. No conviction in anything he does, nor sense at times. Didn’t break a sweat today and coincidentally contributed nothing but a bit of loose marking and a couple of hospital passes. #nffc”

“Ameobi just doesn’t look interested at all today, get him off quick please #nffc”

“Frustrating is the only word to describe Ameobi. One game he’ll be brilliant like against Wednesday, the next he’ll be awful and just shooting from 30 yards out everytime he’s on the ball”

“Don’t rate Grabban, yes he gets the odd goal but I’ve seen much better in the Garribaldi, Ameobi is just bloody lazy, works in fits & starts. Knockart is coasting & Lolly is nowhere near the player he was last season, it’s a poor team. Vrentzos is also the problem & needs to go”
