The Lowdown: Forest interested in Moreno
Moreno, dubbed ‘underrated’ and an ‘absolute force’, has been a reliable performer for Betis over a sustained period now, arriving from Rayo Vallecano back in 2019 and making 103 appearances overall at the Benito Villamarín Stadium.
It appears as though it is a move that could come to fruition, with a report from the Seville press on Tuesday morning dropping some rather big news for Forest supporters.
The Latest: New update emerges
According to ABC Sevilla [via Sport Witness], Betis have indeed ‘begun talks’ with Forest over a move for Moreno, but they go one step further to say that his sale could be necessary due to their current financial situation.
It is described as an ‘ongoing operation’, and there is apparently even hope that the deal ‘can be completed in these weeks’.
The Verdict: Snap him up, Reds
Moreno may not necessarily be an elite left-back – he is yet to be capped by Spain – but he is someone who could improve Forest’s options hugely, coming in as a quality defender with years of experience at a high level.
Are you hoping that Forest sign Tavernier?
He and fellow target Harry Toffolo would likely battle for minutes at left-back, not to mention afford Steve Cooper the luxury of rotating, and he could even be an invaluable influence on his younger teammate.
The fact that Betis are happy to sell puts Forest in a strong position and five goals and three assists in La Liga last season highlight what an attacking threat he can be – something Cooper wants in his full-backs.
