Nottingham Forest are ‘set to decide’ whether or not to table a new offer for Real Betis left-back Alex Moreno, Fabrizio Romano reports.
The Lowdown: Moreno on Forest’s radar
The 29-year-old could leave Betis this summer in order to aid their financial woes, having spent three years there after joining from Rayo Vallecano.
Moreno enjoyed an impressive 2021/22 season, scoring five goals and registering three assists in La Liga, and he has been linked with a move to Forest.
The Reds have already seen one bid for the Spaniard rejected and they could yet return for a fresh offer.
The Latest: Romano provides ‘internal’ update
That’s certainly the opinion of Romano, who took to Twitter to report from within Forest that the Reds are weighing up a new bid:
“After Orel Mangala deal, Nottingham Forest are set to decide internally whether to make a new proposal to Real Betis for Alex Moreno after first bid turned down.
“Personal terms agreed weeks ago but still no agreement between clubs.”

The Verdict: Already sorted at left-back?
Moreno is a highly competent left-back who has performed in La Liga for years but this does feel like a transfer that isn’t needed at Forest this summer.

Steve Cooper has already acquired the signatures of both Omar Richards and Harry Toffolo, both of whom can ply their trade at left-back and are seen as possible starters.
Bringing in Moreno would almost give Forest too much of a conundrum in that area, with two of the three players potentially unhappy at a lack of playing time. For that reason, a second bid isn’t worth considering, for all Moreno’s quality.
