It’s fair to say that Eric Bailly’s run in the Man Utd first team hasn’t quite gone to plan. The Ivorian was expected to come in and finally improve a defence that had been struggling for a while.
However, it didn’t quite happen like that.
After a strong start, injuries and a lack of consistency proved to be a major problem for him, and now he’s in the worst moment of his Man Utd career.
Jose Mourinho seems to have lost faith in him, and so he’s hardly featured this season.
Fortunately, there is no shortage of top defensive talent that they could turn to.
With that said, it’s time for Woodward to sell Bailly and land 1 of these 2 defensive masters…
Kalidou Koulibaly
Few defenders have been able to build a reputation as formidable as Kalidou Koulibaly.
The defender is, undeniably, one of Europe’s best central defenders, having earned his reputation over years of impressing in the heart of the Napoli defence.
A strong and powerful defender, he’s always involved in strong challenges and the relentless pursuit of opposing attackers, and more often than not, he comes out on the winning side.
He’s one of the most consistent defenders currently playing, and that’s where Eric Bailly has fallen short.
Koulibaly would be perfect for the Premier League, and he’d be perfect under Jose Mourinho.
Malang Sarr
Jose Mourinho could be eager to bring in someone a bit younger with a lot of room to grow, and in that search, perhaps Malang Sarr would be a good choice.
Currently playing for Nice, Sarr is just 19-years-old, but in terms of raw potential, few in Europe can come close to him.
A brilliant passer of the ball, he’s fantastic at playing out from the back, and that would make him useful under Jose Mourinho.
That said, he’s robust and he’s an excellent tackler, and so he’d be right at home in this defence.
