The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to see more potential signings coming to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

With that said, the Citizens’ optimism that was apparent last summer with the appointment of Pep Guardiola has certainly died down following a trophy-less season and the Spanish boss is now expected to make some major changes to his squad in the summer transfer window.

Whilst success is in demand, our landlord has noticed that City have let plenty of experience go already in this transfer window with the likes of Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna and Gael Clichy all leaving the club. He has gone on to suggest that the Citizens could do with adding some experience to their line up which would enable them to gain the know-how of how to get over the line and win trophies again.

This comment has sparked mass debate in the Tavern among the City fans and they know that the players released by Guardiola had really passed their sell by date but there are some players in the market who are just timeless and they know they could really add to the City squad.

So, with that said and various names flying around the Tavern, our landlord has listed two golden oldies who City should swoop in for this summer…

Darijo Srna

With no move made for a right back to replace either Pablo Zabaleta or Bacary Sagna, our landlord believes that Guardiola should look to bring in the experienced Srna in order to bring some class into his back line.

The Croat has been at Shahktar Donesk for 14 years and although it seems unlikely the Ukrainian club will want to sell their captain, a move to the Premier League may well be too tempting for the Croatian who only has a few years left in the tank at most.

Victor Valdes

With Guardiola looking to surround himself with players that he trusts, Victor Valdes may be signed in order to boost the goalkeeping ranks at the Etihad according to our landlord.

With Ederson and Claudio Bravo already at the club, our resident City fans cannot see the benefit of signing the former Barcelona keeper who has been underwhelming in his Premier League career so far with dud spells at arch rivals, Manchester United and the recently relegated, Middlesborough.
