Oliver Glasner gives blessing for “amazing” Crystal Palace star to leave Selhurst Park this summer

Crystal Palace are in the midst of what is arguably their most impressive season in recent memory.

Led by Oliver Glasner—who took over as head coach toward the end of last season—the Eagles have soared to new heights. They’ve booked their place in the FA Cup final, where they’ll take on Manchester City on May 17, and are also on track to surpass their highest-ever Premier League points total.

While much of the spotlight has rightly fallen on Glasner for transforming Palace’s fortunes, the players themselves have been just as integral to what has become a historic campaign at Selhurst Park.

Daniel Muñoz has been a standout since arriving, offering consistent energy and balance at right-back, combining attacking intent with defensive reliability. Elsewhere, summer signings Maxence Lacroix and Ismaïla Sarr have added both quality and much-needed depth, bolstering areas that previously lacked competition.

Meanwhile, several of Palace’s established stars have continued to deliver. Jean-Philippe Mateta has maintained his fine form in front of goal, scoring 17 times so far this season after netting 19 last year. At the back, Marc Guéhi has once again proven himself one of the Premier League’s most dependable and composed centre-halves.

The team’s most influential figure, however, has arguably been Eberechi Eze. Operating from midfield, Eze has brought a much-needed creative spark, reaching double digits in both goals and assists while displaying exceptional close control, flair, and vision, unlocking defences at will to often prove himself the difference-maker for Palace in tight games.

Despite Eze’s starring role and being publicly praised as “amazing” by Glasner, The Sun reports that the Austrian coach has sanctioned a potential sale of the England international this summer.

According to the outlet, Glasner is preparing to revamp his squad with up to six new signings, targeting players with a higher work rate off the ball. In order to finance those additions, he would be open to parting ways with Eze—provided his £60 million release clause is triggered.

The 26-year-old’s performances haven’t gone unnoticed, and interest is reportedly mounting. Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa are all said to be monitoring the situation, with each club looking to strengthen their attacking midfield options.

Eze himself has hinted at a desire to test himself at the very highest level. Speaking to TNT Sports earlier this year, he said: “I don’t know where the ceiling is, I don’t know where the limit is, but I want to take it as far as I can. I feel like that’s my obligation with the position I’m in.”

Should he depart this summer, Eze would leave a significant void at Palace—but his legacy, especially in what’s shaping up to be a landmark season, would be secure.
