Despite adding the versatility of Craig Bellamy to his attacking options this summer, Kenny Dalglish is still keen to bolster his options further, and young Brazillian Leandro Damiao could be just the man.
Having been reportedly scouted six times by the Merseyside outfit already, Dalglish’s right hand man Steve Clarke was present to see Damiao score his first goal for his country against Ghana earlier this season.
Liverpool are not the only admirers of Damiao though, as Tottenham attempted to sign the striker in the summer, but saw their £16.5M bid rejected by Damiao’s club, Internacional. Although many predict Spurs to be in pole position to sign the attacker after developing good relations with Internacional following their signing of Sandro last season, the youngster may be out of their price range when the transfer window reopens in January, something which may not be a problem for Liverpool, whose owners seem keen to back Dalglish in the market.
Liverpool’s strike force, which contains both Bellamy and Luis Suarez, is certainly not lacking for pace, but the arrival of Damiao would only increase the pace at the club, and alongside his technical ability on the ball, Damiao has all the attributes needed to make as big an impact as Suarez has made on Merseyside.
