Pardew handed crucial boost as Eagles fight for survival

Our Crystal Palace fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting recently to comments made by the club’s owner Steve Parish to Jim White on Talksport discussing the future of Alan Pardew.

Indeed, the Eagles fans have been in turmoil recently with the way their club have performed with them losing six games on the bounce in the league.

That run was only halted last weekend when they managed to beat Southampton 3-0 at Selhurst Park in a game that many here by the bar felt could be the decider over whether Pardew stayed in the job or not.

It appears, though, that he needn’t have worried with Parish confirming the former West Ham manager would be going nowhere anytime soon.

The Eagles’ owner said when asked about Pardew’s position:

“It is totally safe in that every manager is under pressure.

“You need to win football matches. It is a very binary industry and we are all under pressure. You can’t lift that pressure from people – that is no more constructive than putting it on them.”

Palace had been looking over their shoulder quite a bit during that run of six losses with the likes of Swansea beating them during the process but they will now be hoping to spring forward after last weekend.

They have a big game away at Hull City next time out but our landlord thinks if they play like they did against the Saints they’ll be looking good for another three points.
