As quoted by the Croydon Advertiser, Alan Pardew has revealed that he will not hesitate to use Fraizer Campbell if he feels the striker can contribute to the cause.
The news has been welcomed by many of our Eagles fans here in the Transfer Tavern who are keen to see the forward play more after his crucial equaliser against Hull City last time out.
He hasn’t played much this season with Christian Benteke the main choice up front for the Eagles but he usually offers a good threat when coming off the bench and so it proved at the weekend.
With that in mind, and the fact that Palace seem to be going down the route of trying to out-score their opponents instead of defending against them, Pardew has said more appearances could be in line for the striker.
The former West Ham manager said:
“Of course, in front of Fraizer is Christian Benteke, who has got eight goals and has been absolutely marvellous for us.
“There was an opportunity to have two strikers on at Hull City when we needed a goal and of course, Fraizer has had that ability all his career, to come up with goals.
“He’s done that for me. I remember against Spurs he got an important goal for us, and his commitment to the cause can’t be doubted.
“I will use him. If I need him, or if he starts against Man United, I know he’ll play well. He’s in good form.”
Campbell has played just three times this season for the men from Selhurst Park with that goal against Hull his first of the campaign.
He could be set for more action, though, as Christmas looms large and the games come thick and fast over the next few weeks.
