Liverpool: Fans gush over rumours of interest in Patson Daka

Liverpool fans were delighted to discover that their club are looking to bring in Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka, according to some rumours.

The Kop faithful will be familiar with the Zambian forward, as he scored twice against the Reds during their pre-season friendly game against each other in Austria before the start of the 2020/21 campaign.

Twitter account Sergi Dunez claimed on Saturday that Liverpool have opened talks with the Austrian Bundesliga champions regarding a possible move to the Premier League for Daka, since Rhian Brewster has gone to Sheffield United and Xherdan Shaqiri looks to be following him out of the exit door of Anfield.

While the credibility of the claim is not clear, this is not a new rumour, as sources in Zambia stated that Liverpool were the favourites to land Daka earlier this summer, competing with Manchester United and Arsenal for his signature.

Daka has been sensational for Salzburg since his arrival, scoring 43 goals and providing 18 assists from 89 appearances for the club (as per TransferMarkt), with his brace against Jurgen Klopp’s side further confirming their admiration for the Zambia international.

This update brought a hugely positive reaction from the supporters who made their feelings clear on social media, with some bold statements about what sort of player Daka could be for Liverpool.

You can see some of the best comments listed below, where one fan even said the youngster is “Haaland 2.0”,  presumably due to the fact that both players broke through in Salzburg:
