The Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to see Abel Hernandez arrive at the club in the coming weeks when his contract expires at Hull City, but they are refusing to believe his signature is a certainty just yet.
Abel Hernandez is set to depart the Tigers at the end of the month in search of a new challenge, and reports in recent days have suggested that Andrea Radizzani is working hard to bring him to Elland Road. The 27-year-old Uruguayan endured an injury-hit campaign last season but still managed to notch an impressive 8 goals from 10 appearances for the club.
With a record as prolific as that it’s easy to understand why the Whites are interested in bringing him to the club, but with no deal in place at this moment in time it would be wise for them to consider alternative attacking options.
With that being said, Leeds should monitor the situation of Rangers target Umar Sadiq this summer as the Gers are attempting to complete a loan deal for his services according to the Scottish Sun.
The report claims that NAC Breda are yet to decide whether they want to keep the Nigerian forward (valued at £1.62 million by Transfermarkt) after he completed a successful 6 month loan spell in Holland.
After joining the club on loan at the end of January, Sadiq managed to score 5 goals and provide 3 assists in 12 outings for the club at the spearhead of the attack where he used his 6’4 frame and intelligent hold up play to great effect.
Signing Sadiq would undoubtedly represent a risk for Leeds considering the 21-year-old has no experience in English football, but financially they have nothing to lose by agreeing to a season long loan, so it’s a gamble worth taking this summer.
If Leeds are to challenge for promotion next season they will need to significantly bolster their attacking options. Bringing Sadiq to the club would represent a perfect place to start, as his strong physical presence and natural eye for the back of the net could provide Heckingbottom’s eventual successor with a lethal weapon to utilise throughout the campaign.
