Ex-Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has had quite the career.
He is mainly known for being dominant in the air – his 6ft 7in frame allowed him to score 53 headed Premier League goals, which is more than any other player in the division’s history – but he was so much more than that, as his 22 goals in 42 games for England indicate.
He joined the Reds in 2005, spending three years there and scoring 42 goals in 134 games – not a bad return. However, it seems he is not too happy with his departure from Anfield. He told The Daily Mail: “The one thing that niggles away at me is leaving Liverpool in 2008. Rafa Benitez was happy to let me go and I was only ever going to be a Plan B. But, 18 months later, when I saw Andriy Voronin and David Ngog getting opportunities, it made me wish I had stayed.”
With all due respect to N’Gog and Voronin, neither of them were as good as Crouch, as their paltry 25 goals in 134 matches for Liverpool between them show. Clearly, the Anfield outfit’s supporters agree with the 39-year-old, and they took to Twitter to share their thoughts. You can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.

It’s hard to argue with him. Rafa was amazing, but had some real misses in the transfer market/personal management area. But the miss I thank him every day for was not being able to swap in Gareth Barry for Xabi Alonso as he had planned.
