Our Sunderland fans here in the Transfer Tavern are feeling a little wary about the 2017/18 season as they simply don’t know what is going to happen.
Indeed, after a poor Premier League season once again, they finally found themselves dropping into the second tier.
Since then, of course, David Moyes has left the club and now the Black Cats need a new manager with a serious job awaiting whoever gets the gig.
And, as we wait to see who does come in, Garry Monk – the former Leeds and Swansea manager – has been linked with a move to the Stadium of Light.
For sure, Monk would be the kind of manager you feel could get a tune out of the club but it does remain to be seen if he does get the nod in the end.
Even so, there’s still been reaction so here’s the best of what has been said:
#SAFC speak to Garry Monk – and are confident they can persuade him they’re a better bet than #Boro and Hull… https://t.co/rHb6aeGS5d

Not entirely sure whoever the new manager is will have Borini or Kone at their disposal and nor would I want them to

do you read what us fans think about Short? The part about how unpopular the Allam’s are is true, but most fans blame Short for this mess!

IF Monk is prepared to take the job despite all our problems Bain should be walking over broken glass to get him into the AOL

Doesn’t always work like that with us though

What’s to say he wants it

Well for me he is the only one for the job forget the rest. Just get him keep McInnes as a reserve candidate

Pleased about this. He would be my first choice, then Mcinnes.
