Pochettino’s Tottenham need to stop these 2 Liverpool players to win today

Mauricio Pochettino has got his Spurs side well and truly motoring this season, and a 1-0 win last weekend put them firmly in command as the leaders of the pack chasing Chelsea.

Here in the Transfer Tavern, our Spurs fans have been lavishing praise on the Argentine manager and his young squad, and they are looking forward to their game with Liverpool this weekend.

A lot of the chat over at dartboard has been around if Liverpool can cause them much trouble, with the Reds woefully out of form in 2017 so far.

Our landlord though thinks that Liverpool still have some top players at their disposal who could cause Spurs plenty of trouble.

We agree, so with this in mind, we have taken a look at TWO Liverpool players who Spurs need to stop today to get the three points…

Roberto Firmino

The Brazilian has looked like the only one capable of getting on the score sheet over the last few weeks, and it will be crucial that Spurs stop him.

Allowing the Brazilian time and space around the box will be a big mistake, and the likes of Victor Wanyama and Toby Alderwiereld will need to be on their toes.

If Spurs stop Firmino, they will go a long way to stopping Liverpool.

Philippe Coutinho

Probably the obvious choice, but the recently returning Coutinho is by far Liverpool’s best player.

If Spurs can stop the attacking midfielder getting on the ball, they will very much limit the chances the Reds can create going forward.

Coutinho is a genuine superstar though, and given the chance, he could destroy the Spurs defence if he is on his game.
