Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are still talking about Paul Pogba’s performance in the Manchester derby, his two goals inside two minutes helped the Red Devils produce a fantastic second-half comeback, much to the delight of our punters watching.

It seems that Jose Mourinho has finally found the key to unlock Pogba’s talent by giving the Frenchman a free role in the derby – to which Pogba fully relished in. It’s been a long time coming for our punters to see the former Juventus player take a game by the scruff of its neck and be solely responsible for the win, and on Saturday evening they saw just that.

Pogba came out in the second half like a man possessed. It’s fair to say he had not impressed in the first half, however, in the second half, he was able to make those dangerous ghostly runs he is more than capable of doing on a weekly basis.

If the United faithful in the bar are to see more of the same going forward then Mourinho has to look at signing one of these two players to sit alongside Matic and link the play, while also giving Pogba the security of leaving his defensive duties behind him.

Jorginho

The Napoli midfielder is a master of the short and simple passing. So far this season, he tops the table for short passing accuracy and is a lynchpin of the Serie A side’s title-challenging form.

Jorginho is happy to sit back and let the ball do the work and, with his range of vision, United could have another player on their hands that can make easy work for his teammates around him, especially Pogba. The Italian is still only 26 and is happy grabbing a goal alongside assisting his team, so would be a wonderful conductor in this side.

Daniel Parejo

Daniel Parejo is Valencia’s key man to opening up a defence and has been for years, proving crucial in their strong start to the campaign. Indeed, he’s scored seven goals and given seven assists to his team and is one of the main men around Europe for key passes in an attack.

As much as he enjoys going forward, he is as comfortable in his defensive duties, which would surely please Mourinho very much, so he could allow Pogba that free roaming role. The Spaniard is a tricky character and often gets fouled, which then highlights his superb set-piece qualities.
