Portsmouth: Many fans were thankful for Christian Burgess’ heartfelt message

Christian Burgess has put out a heartfelt message to Portsmouth’s supporters following the club’s 4-0 loss against Southampton.

In the post on his personal Twitter page, the 27-year-old cited the incredible atmosphere at Fratton Park on Tuesday evening, while he also apologised for the result, saying that the supporters deserved more from the game:

However, many Pompey fans have insisted the defender has nothing to be sorry about, recognising that he gave his complete all for the cause during the match.

His statistics back this up, as the 27-year-old made 2 clearances, 2 interceptions, 2 tackles, blocked 1 shot, as well as winning 2 ground duels and 4 aerial duels, as per SofaScore.

The main hope for many fans is that the team will be able to take the level of effort that was on show into their League One matches to begin climbing the table.
