Arsenal fans on Twitter eager to see a few more years of Danny Welbeck

A couple of years ago, most Arsenal fans would probably have been happy to see Danny Welbeck move on away from The Emirates. However, the 27-year-old has managed to keep himself fit and has scored four goals in seven appearances under Unai Emery this season and now the fans want to see him renew his deal at the club.

The ex-Manchester United man has the potential to become something special in North London. Whilst he’s unlikely to start as a central striker ahead of the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Piere-Emerick Aubameyang, his versatility and ability to add goals from the left could be very handy as the season continues. Tonight, Arsenal will face Qarabag in Baku and it would be no surprise to see Welbeck playing to try and add to his three goals in his last two games.

Whether Welbeck is used from the start or as an impact substitute, the fans like seeing him out on the pitch and there’s no doubt that he brings a positive vibe to the squad and helps with morale, as we’ve also seen when the striker is included in the England squad. Welbeck’s Arsenal contract is set to expire next summer and the fans don’t want to see him leave on a free at the end of the season, so a lot of them have been calling for the 27-year-old goal-getter to be given a new contract at The Emirates.
