Everton have joined the ever-growing clutch of clubs from around Europe keeping track of PSV Eindhoven prospect Donyell Malen, according to Calciomercato.

The Blues are claimed to now be monitoring the 20-year-old alongside AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur, following reports that no fewer than 45 sides have requested that PSV keep them informed of their plans for the youngster valued at £50m (Mirror).

Malen has shot onto the scene in the past two years following his arrival at PSV from Arsenal for £500,000 (Mirror), as he hit 11 goals in his first full senior campaign with the Dutch outfit, and has continued into the new term with 11 goals and five assists in 15 games across all competitions (TransferMarkt).

The Wieringen-born prospect's sublime record in his homeland led to Ronald Koeman awarding the 20-year-old his full international debut in September against Germany, and saw his decision rewarded with a goal 21 minutes later.

Clearly buoyed by his international bow, Malen hit five goals at home to Vitesse Arnhem the following week, before netting a late equaliser against his boyhood side and table-topping Ajax last time out.

Arsenal have been claimed to be one of the growing clutch of sides monitoring his progress ahead of a potential return to the Emirates Stadium (Mirror), where he was dubbed the new Thierry Henry.

Milan have also begun sounding out the potential of a deal by contacting his agent Mino Raiola (Calciomercato), while Juventus, Napoli and Roma are also keeping close tabs (Calciomercato.it via Inside Futbol).

A move for Malen would certainly not be cheap, with Calciomercato suggesting Raiola informed Milan that PSV would demand in excess of €30m (£26.5m) and the Mirror touted a £50m figure - 100 times what the Gunners sold him for in 2017 - with the striker tied down to a contract until the summer of 2024.

Malen is proving he has the potential to be something special, though, as he has continued his tremendous first-season form into a second campaign, where he arguably looks even more dangerous with an Eredivisie hit-rate of a goal every 86 minutes.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane was dubbed as a one-season wonder after he broke onto the scene (Guardian), and the same tag was placed on Mohamed Salah after his debut term at Liverpool (The Times, via Liverpool Echo) - and clubs will be loathed to miss out on players that can offer them long-term success like Kane and Salah while they are still young.

Whether Malen can replicate his form in the Netherlands elsewhere remains to be seen, but it will unlikely be at Everton, after director of football Marcel Brands effectively ruled out moves for Hirving Lozano and Steven Bergwijn last year, as he knew they would be too expensive to make the risk worthwhile.

Speaking with Dutch publication Voetbal International, Brands said: "Look at [Naby] Keita at Liverpool. He was signed for more than €50m (£44.2m) from Leipzig, but is simply on the bench. Of course, Lozano and Bergwijn are interesting players, but €30m (£25.5m) for Hirving and €20m (£17.7m) for Steven, we will not pay that.

"For Richarlison, we have indeed paid a lot of money, but he is 21 years old and has already shown [his skills] in the Premier League. He is likely to deliver double [what we paid]."

Come the end of last season, Lozano had 21 goals and 12 assists to his name across all competitions for PSV (TransferMarkt) and completed a summer move to SSC Napoli for £38.5m (Goal).
