Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update regarding Liverpool’s race to sign Borussia Dortmund superstar Jadon Sancho.
Sancho future revealed
The 20-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Signal Iduna Park, with talkSPORT previously suggesting that the Reds have moved to the front of the queue to secure his services.
From 117 appearances, Sancho, who was described as “the perfect footballer” by German legend Lothar Matthaus, has scored 38 goals and provided 52 assists for Dortmund. He has also picked up 18 England caps during that timeframe (TransferMarkt).
In response to a comment from Absolute Chelsea, who claimed that both Liverpool and the West London club are to join the race for the England international, Romano was quick to make a correction to the update.
“no mate, I said that the race will be on for Sancho next summer and new clubs can try to sign him. Man Utd for sure interested. Nothing new. It’s December, in June we will see”
Transfer Tavern Verdict
Sancho would be a huge signing if Liverpool can clinch him. Some would argue that their position as a club overall puts them ahead of their Premier League rivals, as was originally suggested.
Earning £99k-per-week at Dortmund, Sancho’s wages are manageable and it’s likely that he wouldn’t blow the dressing room apart with his demands.
With the economic climate in the state that it currently is, time will tell whether club owner John Henry will come up with the funds to bring Sancho to Anfield.
