Some Liverpool supporters have been reacting negatively to claims that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be used in a different role next season.

The 27-year-old has had a frustrating Reds career overall, never quite nailing down a regular starting berth after suffering a serious injury in 2018.

Oxlade-Chamberlain only managed two Premier League starts in the whole of last season, struggling to convince Jurgen Klopp that he was a reliable option.

The midfielder looks to be in good form during pre-season, however, earning praise from Pep Lijnders and looking fully fit ahead of the new campaign.

According to the Liverpool Echo [via Anfield Watch on Twitter], Oxlade-Chamberlain could be used in a number 10 role next season, as well as out wide, having impressed his coaches so far this summer.

Notably, he made the decision to leave Arsenal for Liverpool four years ago due to concerns about his playing position, having rarely been utilised in his preferred central midfield role by Arsene Wenger. [The Independent]
