Liverpool: Fans not impressed with Takumi Minamino valuation

Liverpool: Fans not impressed with Takumi Minamino valuation - Liverpool

Many Liverpool fans have been reacting to reports that Takumi Minamino was valued at £22m by the Reds before their move to sign him.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp’s side had privately made their own valuation on the player before his £7.25m move from RB Salzburg last January.

Should Takumi Minamino be given more time in the Liverpool first team?

The report added that the Japan international had been tracked since days playing for the J-League team Cerezo Osaka, and Liverpool beat the likes of Manchester United, AC Milan and Borussia Monchengladbach to secure his services.

From 29 appearances for Liverpool, the 25-year-old has scored four times (TransferMarkt) and has only averaged a match rating of 6.44 (Whoscored).

Can you beat the Anfield 100 appearances quiz? First up, which Liverpool player was the last to reach 100 league games before Trent Alexander-Arnold did it this season?

With this in mind, supporters questioned why the Reds rated him so highly having seen nothing of much note having spent 12 months on Merseyside.

One fan even took aim at sporting director Michael Edwards, who has received nothing but praise due to his transfer dealings in recent years.
