Liverpool are reportedly closing in on a new kit deal which would see Nike replace New Balance as the club’s kit supplier from next summer.
The Telegraph reported that the Anfield club are set to agree a club record kit deal with Nike, although The Athletic subsequently reported that New Balance could take the matter to the High Court as they claim to have triggered their right to match Nike’s offer and should therefore have their contract extended.
With Liverpool set for a significant increase on the £45m a year they receive from their existing agreement with New Balance, news of the proposed Nike deal had some Reds fans dreaming of a potential move for Jadon Sancho next year.
The Borussia Dortmund teenager had previously been a transfer target at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp, as reported by The Telegraph, and has links with Nike as he sports their Mercurial line of football boots.
These Liverpool fans on Twitter believe that the impending Nike deal could help to lure Sancho to the Merseyside club:
Liverpool x Nike.

“understanding is that Jadon Sancho, is the player Klopp wants and he is determined to prize the young star from former club Dortmund and bring him back to England!” Liverpool are confident in making him their first blockbuster signing of the Nike era!

Nike facilitating moves for Sancho, etc: good.
Nike trying to ride roughshod over Liverpool’s world class recruitment team: bad.
Might not be a realistic scenario, but that mast there has my colours nailed to it
