Manchester United: Fans slate Ed Woodward

It’s fair to say that Ed Woodward is an unpopular figure at Manchester United.

For some, the Red Devils vice-chairman is largely to blame for the demise of the club since the departure of former manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

Woodward has made a series of rash decisions regarding managerial appointments and transfers – one example being the decision to sell Romelu Lukaku this summer, despite the club lacking options up-front.

That move is now proving costly for United, whose only fully fit ‘senior’ striker is 17-year-old Mason Greenwood, after Marcus Rashford limped off with a groin injury against West Ham on Sunday afternoon.

United fell to another defeat against the Hammers at the weekend – their second of the campaign – with many United fans now calling for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be sacked.

Despite a string of poor performances on the pitch, Woodward has said that he fully supports the Norwegian, and somewhat bizarrely admitted that he is “prepared to take the pain of another difficult season, as he thinks the project will reap it’s reward” (via @utdreport).

Here’s how United fans reacted to those comments on Twitter..
