Manchester United have shared footage of Marcus Rashford embarrassing Angel Gomes as the first team returned to Carrington ahead of the Premier League’s return next month.
Earlier this week, it was announced that the English top flight will restart on 17 June, and clubs unanimously voted to resume contact training (BBC).
The Red Devils uploaded a video on the club’s Instagram channel (@manchesterunited) of Rashford producing a sublime piece of skill, as he flicked the ball away from Gomes with a casual backheel.
Evidently this update has delighted much of the fan base, as the comments section was flooded with lots of glowing replies.
The England international is United’s leading goalscorer this season, despite the fact he spent a substantial amount of time on the sidelines with a back injury before football was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Indeed, the 22-year-old has scored 14 goals in just 22 games in this Premier League campaign, taking 3.4 shots on average, averaging two dribbles and making 1.1 key passes per game (WhoScored).
Meanwhile, Gomes has been the subject of rampant transfer speculation over the course of the season, as he received plenty of attention from a number of European giants, including Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund, but Ed Woodward has held firm and is currently in negotiations with the teenager’s representatives.
He is also reportedly considering an offer from Frank Lampard’s Chelsea, but the fact the 19-year-old is still training at Carrington will surely give supporters hope that he will stay at Old Trafford next season.
