Many Manchester United supporters were stunned by Red Devils talisman Paul Pogba’s latest birthday coronavirus fundraiser.

Celebrating his 27th birthday on Sunday, the French World Cup winner launched a fundraiser on Instagram, raising money for those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pogba wants to raise at least £27k for UNICEF and he has pledged to double the figure if the target is reached. The funds raised will go towards disposable gloves, surgical masks and other equipment for medical staff.

Last year the Frenchman raised £26k for Charity: Water and doubled the total raised.

Pogba has only played seven games and provided two assists in the Premier League this season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side (Transfermarkt).

The midfielder has made 150 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 31 goals and creating 31 assists in all competitions. He became the club’s record signing after returning to Old Trafford from Serie A giants Juventus for a whopping £94.5m (Transfermarkt).
