Tottenham Hotspur: Fans not happy that Lucas Moura did not start against Red Star

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans were left fuming when they saw that Lucas Moura was not in the starting 11 for their UEFA Champions League game against Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday (BBC Sport).

The Brazilian had started their most recent game, a 1-1 draw with Watford in the Premier League (Transfermarkt), but Mauricio Pochettino opted to leave him out for their game against the Serbian outfit.

In truth, the former Paris Saint-Germain has been in and out of the team all season. Indeed he has started just three of their nine Premier League matches so far, and had started only one of their two Champions League fixtures prior to the visit of Red Star (Transfermarkt).

But several supporters felt that the forward should have been starting against Red Star, with some suggesting that he should be in the team ahead of Erik Lamela.

In the end it would be fair to say that Pochettino got the decision right, as Spurs produced an outstanding performance to win the game 5-0 (via BBC Sport).

The North London outfit were brilliant on the night, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min both bagging braces and Lamela vindicating the manager’s decision to play him by getting his name on the scoresheet.
