Carlton Cole joined Geoff Shreeves on The Debate and discussed West Ham's current situation in the Premier Leauge and highlighted some of the things the team simply can't afford right now.

David Moyes' tactical approach was questioned following the recent 2-0 loss away at Manchester City given they had just 23% of possession (per WhoScored) and registered no shots on target but former Irons striker Cole actually suggested not risking getting demolished by City - who beat them 5-0 on the opening day - was a better approach mentally amid a relegation fight.

Here's what he said on The Debate (25/2/2020): "I've been in teams when we've gone up to Man City and we've lost 6-0, 5-0. And right now we can't afford to be demoralised that much. We need the boys on the side. I thought - I would have accepted 2-0 because 2-0 is a massive result up there for me."

For Cole, losing by huge margins against their Premier League opposition is something they simply can't afford right now and should aim to avoid at all costs. Indeed, with 48 goals conceded in just 27 games played in the league already, keeping their goal difference respectable is surely preferable given how tight it is at the bottom - with Aston Villa just a point away the 17th position.
