Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern fear that their former boss could come to haunt them as The Mirror revealed that Roberto Mancini has pleaded with the Inter Milan board to go out of their way to land Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure.
The Ivorian journeyman, who is now at his sixth club, has said in previous years that he could look to leave the Citizens as he has achieved all there is to win in England, bar the Champions League.
And his former boss is looking to capatalise on his situation to bring the Ivory Coast international to Italy after he initially signed him at the Etihad Stadium back in 2010.
The 31-year-old has been a key part of Manchester City’s history in recent years since joining from Barcelona, being heavily involved in all their recent success.
But this time, Mancini hopes Toure can come in and revitalise his struggling side at the San Siro.
Mancini jokingly said: “Yaya Toure? Piero Ausilio [Inter’s sporting director] – put your hand in your pocket!
“I had Yaya at Manchester City and I think he is one of the best players in the world.
“It’s not easy, though, because he’s at Manchester City, so it’s up to him and whether he wants to come and play in Italy, after playing in the other major European leagues.
“He’d be a big signing not just for Inter but also for the Italian league’s prestige as a whole.
“Inter have more appeal than many teams, though, so we’ll see what happens in the future, but he belongs to Manchester City at the moment.”
So with there being a possibility that Toure may choose to make one more major move before he retires, maybe bringing success back to Inter could be the perfect project.
