The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story in the Daily Mail that claims Sir Alex Ferguson put his Manchester United bias aside as he invited Pep Guardiola out for a meal to congratulate the Spaniard on his title win. Guardiola has a way to go before he matches Ferguson’s record of 13 Premier League crowns, although his triumph this year is more impressive than any of the Scot’s.

This season has seen Pep Guardiola’s side break record after record. The Citizens broke the record for most consecutive Premier League wins when they won 18 consecutive games between August and December and are currently chasing down the records for most goals scored in a season and most points won in a season. Whether you support City or not, it’s impossible not to admit that their football has been breathtaking, and it’s a touch of class from Sir Alex Ferguson to congratulate Guardiola in person.
This season has been rosy for the Sky Blues, but last season wasn’t so much. Pep Guardiola’s first year in England was his first season without winning a trophy in his entire managerial career and many fans went as far to say he couldn’t crack the Premier League. Much the contrary, Guardiola has not only proved he can crack the Premier League, he’s done it in the same style with which he cracked the Bundesliga and La Liga, despite the increased level of competition in England.

SAF probably asking Pep to leave Manchester, so United could have some hope in finishing only a few points behind City next season.
