Proof Everton have outmastered Man United in the transfer market

Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are having a few laughs (and a few fine ales) at the expense of our Manchester United patrons this afternoon.

The Red Devils paid a world-record transfer fee to sign midfielder Paul Pogba during the summer, but not everybody has been convinced by the France international’s performances so far this season.

Although he’s by no means disgraced himself, he’s not exactly produced the form you’d expect of the most expensive player in the history of football either, notching up just four goals and three assists in 25 Premier League appearances.

In fact, in terms of output, he’s currently being gazumped by Everton right-back Seamus Coleman, who stands at four goals and four assists for the campaign.

And, to add insult to injury, Everton allegedly paid just £60k to sign the Ireland international from Sligo Rovers  – a minuscule fraction of the fee forked out by United to sign a player they’d let go four years earlier!
