The majority of the Arsenal fans were delighted in the Transfer Tavern on deadline day after they secured the signing of Aubameyang, but a handful of the Gunners were disappointed to see Olivier Giroud depart for a Premier League rival.
The January transfer window was one of Arsene Wenger’s most active mid-season windows in years. Arsenal welcomed Konstantinos Mavropanos to the club along with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrik Mkhitaryan, whilst Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud departed the club for Manchester United and Chelsea respectively.
Time will tell whether Arsenal’s January window will help the club to improve in the future, but supporters have already begun delivering their assessment of events. Yesterday evening, Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher delivered their verdict on the merits of Arsenal’s incoming and outgoing transfers on the debate, and their discussion provoked plenty of discussion on Twitter.
Was it a good transfer window for @Arsenal despite losing @Alexis_Sanchez?

Plenty of the Arsenal fans were quick to hail Wenger’s mid-season acquisitions and claim that their new-look forward line will catalyse a significant improvement at the club. In addition to this, the fact that Aubameyang’s signing undoubtedly played a role in convincing Ozil to extend his contract in North-London has also given the fans reason to praise their January dealings.
On the other hand, a handful of Arsenal supporters and supporters from rival clubs stated that Arsenal failed to address the major issues in their squad during the January window, namely their defensive frailties.
Here’s what the supporters from various clubs had to say about Arsenal’s transfer activity in January…
Best transfer window for a decade

No,, why sell Giroud?
They needed to offload, Chambers and get in better quality defenders, holding midfielder..like Kante— Dullah (@dula113) February 2, 2018
Awful window for them they’ve added in areas that aren’t as crucial as others such as a whole new back 4

Mavropanos signing of the season

Hell yes and the biggest of them all is Mesut Ozil. Given the circumstances we somehow have a stronger team. Defence needs sorting still of course… we'll score 4 they'll score 5.

Mhykitarian wont even start and Aubameyang shares many similarities with Lacazette. Sold their most prolific striker/other striking option in Giroud and sold Sanchez, their best player. Quality window.

It isn’t. Arsenal fans will say otherwise but it really isn’t a good window for them.
