Liverpool: Fans slam Rafael’s comments on season end

Liverpool were within touching distance of winning the Premier League before the current pandemic led to most professional football across the globe being suspended.

They have not won a league title for 30 years, but they currently lead the table by 25 points, the biggest margin in the division’s history, and they need just two wins to lift the title at the end of the campaign. Now, though, their inevitable trophy has been thrown in to doubt as there have been questions as to whether the season will even be ended.

Former Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva would clearly like to see it finished now so that that Reds don’t win the title. Asked by the Red Devils’ official website as to what his best moment at Old Trafford was, he said: “I always say that when you get to 18, and when you pass Liverpool! Everybody’s talking about ‘stop the competition’, no? They don’t get to 20! It will be hard for them (if the league is cancelled), great for us! But that (winning the 19th title in 2011) was my best moment.”

As you can imagine, this has not gone down well at all with the Liverpool supporters after it was picked up by the Empire of the Kop Twitter page. They have been reacting in their droves, and you can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.
