Rangers: Fans loved Jermain Defoe’s post featuring footage of his first full day at Ibrox

Plenty of Rangers fans have hailed Jermain Defoe after the veteran striker posted footage from his first full day at the club on his Twitter profile @IAmJermainDefoe.

The 37-year-old shared a clip from the day after he joined on loan from Bournemouth in January 2018 showing him walking through the Ibrox tunnel and onto the pitch, taking some blades of grass from the playing surface and kissing them for good luck. He posted that he had simply turned up at the stadium and asked security staff if he could get a first-hand view of the pitch.

Defoe made a quick impact upon swapping the south of England for Glasgow, with six goals in 12 Premiership games in the second half of last season before netting 13 goals in 20 league matches this term. Since coming to Rangers, he has a total of 25 goals from 52 appearances and his form convinced the club to turn his loan move into a permanent one in a pre-contract agreement which will take effect once his current deal at Bournemouth expires in June (as per Sky Sports).

These ‘Gers fans on Twitter loved the striker’s social media footage and lavished praise on the veteran Englishman, who one supporter hailed as a “class act“:
