Many Rangers fans have urged the club to sign Egyptian striker Mostafa Mohamed following reports linking him with a possible move to Ibrox.
According to the Daily Record, reports in Africa have suggested that Rangers have pitched a £500,000 six-month loan offer to his current club Zamalek with a view to paying a further £1.5m to sign him permanently if his loan move goes well.
Last month, The Scottish Sun reported claims from Egyptian TV pundit and former international Haytham Farouk saying that Steven Gerrard had sent a delegation to Egypt to speak to the 22-year-old.
The Daily Record also claimed that the striker has submitted a transfer request to Zamalek, although the same publication subsequently reported that Rangers have denied reports of a potential move for Mohamed.
He has scored 12 times for his club this season, with four in his last six games, while he was also the top scorer at the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations in November as he helped his nation to triumph in the competition. [via Daily Record]
Rangers fan @Cjnovo992 on Twitter asked followers for their opinions on the 22-year-old, with many replying to call on the club to push through a deal for Mohamed in January to supplement the Light Blues’ current centre-forwards Alfredo Morelos, Jermain Defoe and Greg Stewart.
Here are some of the responses from Rangers fans:
Boy looks a player, I know you cant always rely on youtube,,but some of his goals where top notch and is good in the air a big plus for me, great cover and a big prospect! Would be an ideal cover for Alfie and Jermaine id take him in a heartbeat👍

Good player, good goal to game ratio, scores long range shots and overhead kicks, short loan with an option to buy is sensible
It’s a no brainer for me— 🇬🇧 Stevie G RFC 🇬🇧 (@Stevie_G_RFC) January 6, 2020
Don’t know much about him tbh CJ. But if Gerrard likes him then I’ll take his word for it.

I would be happy with it. Young lad who knows where the net is who can learn from Morelos and Defoe. Potential long term replacement for Morelos presuming he leaves in the summer. Unfortunately I doubt it’s true

If Defoe or Morelos get injured for any length of time then we will need a striker so I say yes.
