Alex McLeish has been left wowed by an exciting reveal on Glasgow Rangers' revenues which has emerged this week.

As per Football Insider, the Ibrox faithful are 'well on course' to announce revenues of up to £70m for the season.

Ibrox sources have claimed that this would be a 'phenomenal' sum, in the context of their modern history and world events in recent years.

The figure will depend on how many more games that they play at home, and how far they get in the UEFA Europa League.

The Latest: McLeish reacts

Speaking to Football Insider, former Teddy Bears manager McLeish was wowed by the news, claiming that the numbers quoted are 'sensational':

“Those figures are sensational. You wonder how that can happen in the Scottish league, which is not the strongest league.

“But of course, the European money has been very lucrative. Rangers have deserved that money because of their achievements in Europe and getting to the later stages.

“It really is incredible money for them to perhaps put a stranglehold on things. Also, to try and have dominance in the league.

“It just reinforces what people have been saying to me for years, money men. Guys who don’t support Rangers have said to me there’s no way Rangers can’t make money.

“They’ll continue to make money despite some hard-luck times. The relegation, going through the divisions and then the pandemic.

“They’re still highly capable of earning fantastic revenue.”

The Verdict: Great for the club

The kind of money that the Light Blues are making this term really is great for the club.

Even though they are currently behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table, they are in the Europa League quarter-finals, having seen off both Borussia Dortmund and Red Star Belgrade.

They also have a favourable draw against Braga, and so have a good chance to go all the way in the competition.

Nonetheless, if they can claw back the points needed in order to catch the Hoops, and advance further in Europe, then the Gers will be looking at very healthy revenues once the campaign comes to a close.
