Plenty of Glasgow Rangers fans voiced their agreement with journalist Jordan Campbell after he took to Twitter to defend Alfredo Morelos following Saturday’s win at Aberdeen.
The Athletic reporter tweeted (via @JordanC1107) his belief that the Colombian gave a strong performance at Pittodrie and insisted that critics of the 24-year-old had preconceived notions due to the intense transfer speculation linking him with a £17m move to Lille.
If you watched Morelos today and came to the conclusion that he didn't put in the effort or didn't have at least a fairly good game, then it seems to me that the conclusion was decided before the evidence was considered.
A bit rusty at times but involved in a lot of the play.

While Morelos’ wait for a Premiership goal extends back to Boxing Day of last year, when he netted against Kilmarnock, he was involved in the match-winning moment on Saturday, playing the pass into Ryan Kent for the ex-Liverpool man to score the game’s only goal on 21 minutes.
Campbell’s praise of the Colombian’s effort is well placed given the striker’s match statistics from Pittodrie – he registered four shots (joint-most of any ‘Gers player), played three key passes, won three headers and three tackles, completed three dribbles and drew four fouls (as per WhoScored).

These ‘Gers fans on Twitter sided with the journalist, with one supporter saying that they “totally agree” with the pro-Morelos stance:
His link up play and ability to create space is heavily underrated by Rangers fans at times imo.

Totally agree. Sky seemed to have it in for him. He was involved in everything for me. He’ll only get better too. Hatrick on Thursday please @morelos2106 :D🔴⚪️🔵

Absolutely spot on. Too many just want to criticise him no matter what

100% thought he linked up well with Kent and Hagi. Didn’t always come off for them but hopefully with more games they will become much more fluid

Spot on pal. I come on twitter after game and it’s the same old complaints by same fans. Rangers won a tough away game 3 points end off. Win games win leagues simples

Constant nuisance & assist for the goal. Viva El Buffalo
