Glasgow Rangers striker Cedric Itten has not been selected in Switzerland’s squad for their upcoming internationals against Belgium, Spain and Ukraine.
Itten, who made a £3m move to Ibrox from St. Gallen during the summer, has three goals in three games for his country.
However, he has been axed from the upcoming internationals, and will therefore spend the international break in Glasgow.
Last season, Itten was in fantastic form in his homeland, scoring 19 goals in 34 matches for St. Gallen in the league. Steven Gerrard will have been hoping he could recreate that form following his move to Scotland.
Itten has not been a guaranteed starter for the 54-time Scottish champions this term, but he has still struggled to make an impact in Glasgow. He did manage two goals against Motherwell in a 5-1 win, but those are the only two strikes he has managed in 11 matches for his new club.
Should Itten start vs Hamilton?
It is still early days, of course – he has plenty of time to turn around his fortunes with the Gers and earn a place back in the Swiss squad as a result. It is now important that he does not let this latest set-back prevent him from reaching his highest level.
