The Athletic journalist Jordan Campbell has shared some early Glasgow Rangers Team News ahead of their game in the Scottish Premiership this afternoon.

The Lowdown: First Ibrox game

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's team will be playing their first home match of the new SPFL season at Ibrox, after beating Livingston 2-1 on the opening day.

They will want to get off to the best possible start in front of their home supporters, and clinch all three points against Kilmarnock while rivals Celtic take on their first away trip of the season at Ross County.

The Latest: Morelos in squad

Taking to Twitter on Friday evening, Campbell has shared some news from Van Bronckhorst ahead of the fixture, with the Dutch manager confirming that Alfredo Morelos will be in the squad, after missing the start of the campaign with injury:

"Big news for Rangers as Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirms Alfredo Morelos will be in the squad for tomorrow’s match against Kilmarnock. The first time he’ll be involved since March after undergoing thigh surgery."

The Verdict: Huge boost

Having Morelos back will no doubt be a huge boost for Van Bronckhorst and his team.

He was their top scorer in all competitions with 19 goals in total last term, despite missing the back end of the season.

Nonetheless, with Kemar Roofe currently out injured, and new signing Antonio Colak still adapting to the side and league, Van Bronckhorst could do with a proven asset up top in Morelos.

It is not clear whether the Colombia international will be able to start the match, but even having him come off of the bench will be a welcome boost for the Gers.
