Many Glasgow Rangers fans have lauded Dave King after Club 1872’s Twitter account tweeted a photo of the South African businessman and Gers shareholder.
Sunday was a momentous day for the Gers. After a 10-year wait for a Premiership title, the Ibrox outfit confirmed their status as Scottish champions as Celtic failed to beat Dundee United. Gers supporters everywhere have been revelling in the glory of their success ever since it was put beyond any mathematical doubt.
King has been on the board at Ibrox since 2000 and remained with the Gers when they were demoted to League Two after entering administration (BBC). He has helped them return to the top of Scottish football, and many supporters have not forgotten the part he has played in that rise. One even put him in the same bracket as Bill Struth, the legendary manager of the club for 34 years in the 20th century.
Does Dave King deserve a statue?
These fans were quick to respond to the photo as they took to the social media platform to share their thoughts.
Let’s see what the fans had to say about King below
“Love it. Thanks Dave King and all the board for everything you have done. Genuine tears in my eyes and forever legends.”
“Absolute hero. Up there with the founders and Struth for me.”
“Dave King – Absolute hero to the world family of Rangers”
“Cheers to Dave King. Our saviour. After our critiques best efforts we’d still be skint and playing at Clachnacudden if it wasnt for Dave King.”
“Build the man a statue Andy!”
“massive thanks Dave for returning our club back to the days of glory. I hope you can come over at some point and celebrate you deserve to hold that trophy above your head also.”
