Glasgow Rangers fans have been reacting to comments from Steven Gerrard following the news that a number of the Gers’ players broke coronavirus regulations to attend a small gathering.
The news broke following the Ibrox outfit’s 1-0 win over Kilmarnock. The Athletic reported at least four players were involved in breaking the rules, with Calvin Bassey and Nathan Patterson named directly. As the Gers approach the business end of the campaign, it is the last thing anyone at the club needed to hear.
Ahead of the Gers’ clash against Royal Antwerp in the Europa League on Thursday, Gerrard was asked about the situation, and he revealed that five players were involved. He also confirmed they will be fined and that the club are in contact with the Scottish FA and the government as they attempt to resolve the issue.
Should Rangers sack Bassey and Patterson?
A clip of Gerrard’s comments were shared on the club’s official Twitter account, and the fans took to the social media platform to share their thoughts.
Let’s see what the fans had to say about the comments from Gerrard below
“The man is hurting badly let down players should be ashamed”
“The gaffer is a class act. He’ll mend the 5 involved”
“Outstanding SG. You’re a top man”
“Don’t think you will ever see most of these lads near rangers again. Stevie sounds betrayed”
“Love the gaffer with his honesty. These players have let everyone down so badly especially Patterson Mebude and Bassey who had great careers ahead of them and they will rue this for the rest of their careers wherever that may be.”
“You have got to love how gerrard speaks in these interviews. Just shows class all the time”
