Rangers left-back Borna Barisic could 'soon' seal a move to the English Premier League, according to a prominent football agent in Croatia (as per Daily Record).

The lowdown

The Croatian defender joined Rangers from NK Osijek in his homeland in a £2.2m deal in the summer of 2018. He has since made 134 appearances for the Gers, notching seven goals and 34 assists in that time and helping them to win the Premiership last year.

Barisic still has two-and-a-half years to run on his £18,000-per-week contract at Ibrox, and he is valued at £5.4m by Transfermarkt.

The latest

Croatian football agent Marjan Sisic thinks a departure may be on the horizon for the 'in-demand' Barisic, saying that players who shine at Rangers 'always win a move' to England and that the process could repeat itself here.

"Borna Barisic is another member of the Croatian national team who has great prospects for changing his club soon," he said, as quoted by the Daily Record.

"The position of left back is always in demand. He has been with Rangers for a long time now and has played well during that time.

"We know what happens there is that once you play well for Rangers or Celtic, you always win a move to the English Premier League and that's what could happen here."

The verdict

Rangers have already lost one full-back to a club south of the border this month, with Nathan Patterson signing for Everton. This would arguably be a bigger blow because, while the 20-year-old has been second choice in his right-sided position, Barisic is a regular starter on the other flank.

On top of that, the Croatian has been one of Rangers' most consistently impressive performers this season, averaging a WhoScored rating of 7.25/10. Furthermore, former Ibrox midfielder Alex Rae described the 29-year-old as someone who "performs at good level week-in, week-out and has terrific quality in the final third of the park".

With Joe Aribo, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos all out of contract next year, Rangers fans may fear that the title-winning side could soon be dismantled.
