Glasgow Rangers have been nearing the completion of a deal to bring Bongani Zungu to the club, but it seems like this transfer is stalling following the latest reports.

According to The Scotsman, the Gers seem to have an agreement in place with Amiens to sign Zungu for around £3.6 million and it looked like the deal would be easy to complete from there.

However the current stumbling block is due to the fact that the Scottish side are struggling to agree personal terms with the defensive midfielder.

A three year deal with the option to extend for a further year looked to be agreed but personal terms have still not been finalised and this has now left many unsure as to whether it will be completed.

Zungu has made 57 appearances so far for his current club, scoring twice and assisting three goals, per Transfermarkt. He has also got experience in Portugal, as he has made 27 appearances for Vitória Guimarães.

The 27-year-old also has international pedigree, scoring twice for South Africa in 24 caps for his country, with both goals coming in last summer’s Africa Cup of Nations as he helped them reach the quarter-finals, per Transfermarkt.

He is also attracting interest from clubs in La Liga and the Serie A, and this highlights the quality he has. Therefore the Gers should try and do everything possible to make sure the deal gets completed as long as it is realistic.

A good defensive midfielder would add some great strength to their midfield and for what seems a reasonable fee, it looks like a good bit of business for the club.
