As per the Daily Record, Kai Kennedy is eager to quit Glasgow Rangers and is weighing up his options ahead of the end of the transfer window.
The issue has arisen after the 18-year-old has refused to put pen to paper on a new deal over a lack of playing assurances.
Bayern Munich, Roma and Manchester United are all said to have been interested in him in the past, whilst Sheffield United lead the way for the wantaway teenager (as per Daily Record).
There are two ways at looking at this. On the one hand, the ‘Gers could well be losing a top talent, and that is something they would be keen to avoid – Billy Gilmour has gone on to become a very promising young talent at Chelsea, even starting Premier League games for the Blues after leaving Ibrox.
Would you be sad to see Kai Kennedy leave?
On the other hand, though, Kennedy has done nothing in his career to show that he deserves guarantees of playing time – he cannot expect to just walk into Steven Gerrard’s starting XI. The fact that he is already refusing to sign a new contract could be a warning sign over his mentality, even at a young age – that is unlikely to be something Gerrard will like, and the manager has already spoken out about egos among the club’s academy players.
Either way, it looks as though Kennedy’s time with the 54-time Scottish champions is coming to a close. It will now be interesting to see whether he makes the most of his talent.
