Speaking to Football Insider, talkSPORT regular Gabriel Agbonlahor has tipped Rangers to sign Sheffield United star John Lundstram this month – going on to claim that the Gers target ‘would love’ a move to Ibrox.
Lundstram, as per the same outlet, is being watched by the Teddy Bears and Steven Gerrard as he aims to bolster his Glasgow Rangers squad for the second half of the SPFL season – with Rangers potentially needing all the help they can get if they wish to clinch an unprecedented 55th league title.
Indeed, in Rangers’ quest to halt arch rivals Celtic’s 10 in a row dream, sporting director Ross Wilson has been touted to move for Lundstram as his contract dispute at Bramall Lane shows no sign of ending.
Agbonlahor tips Gers move for Lundstram
Agbonlahor, speaking to Football Insider on the situation, claims he’s heard that there has still been no agreement over a Yorkshire extension – potentially gifting the Gers a big boost if they wish to sign him before the January transfer window shuts.
The former Aston Villa striker has also tipped Rangers as the favourites for his signature.
“He’s a quality player,” explained Agbonlahor.
“I’ve heard he’s not agreed a contract, maybe that’s wages they can’t agree. If Rangers can pay the money that he wants then maybe it suits him.
“I’m sure if anybody’s got a chance to leave Sheffield United at the moment, the way they’re playing, I’m sure they would.
“Rangers are a massive club that I’m sure he would love to go and play for.”
Transfer Tavern take
Described as a would-be ‘massive signing for Rangers‘, Lundstram looks arguably more certain than ever to leave Chris Wilder’s side – and he could be a fine addition to Gerrard’s squad.
Only time will tell whether the Gers do land him, but it may well be a great bit of business ahead of a busy period.
