According to Football Insider, Glasgow Rangers fear losing Borna Barisic to a Premier League club this year.
Gers scared of losing Barisic
Barisic was reportedly the subject of interest from Leeds United last summer, with the Whites believed to have had a bid of £8.1m rejected for the Croatia international.
In the end, he stayed put at Ibrox, but the 54-time Scottish champions are now wary that he could leave in 2021 after another impressive campaign.
Barisic’s performances may at times go under the radar, but he is one of Steven Gerrard’s most important players. So far this season, he has missed just three games in all competitions, while he has already contributed 10 assists. That follows on from him creating 14 strikes during the 2019/20 season.
Steven Gerrard has previously praised Barisic’s ‘magic’, and he will know the 28-year-old is a player that he cannot afford to lose this season. With the Gers now 19 points clear at the top of the Premiership, a first title since 2011 is within touching distance – once that is achieved, the likes of Barisic may be open to departing. After all, there may be little more for him to achieve in Scotland following such a success.
Will Barisic be at Rangers next season?
His potential exit is unlikely to be a big topic during this transfer window, but don’t be surprised to see it be a hot topic at the end of the season.
In other news, Rangers fans hammer this politician’s lack of respect.
